The UCLA offense (#69) is proving to be an even deeper disappointment to Jim Mora than his long sleeve under polo shirt choices must be to be his wife. Mora wanted to bring in the tough guy attitude he so risibly personifies to his offense and switched from a spread style offense to a pro style; after is offensive coordinator decided that he probably had enough of Mora talking with his mouth full and swaggering on about never eating vegetables at all the team meals, and gleefully went to A&M. UCLA fans had to feel joyous at first, but I bet they miss the old Mazzone WR screen now. Mora is in a bit of a spot here because firing the new offensive coordinator after one year would make him look pretty stupid for hiring him, but this really isn't working well and you can't waste 3 full years of Rosen trying to figure out which offense best matches your truck nutz. In fact the only interesting question about this UCLA team for the rest of the season is does Mora keep Polamalu and hope they team learns and adjusts or face the ignominy of standing in front of the media and firing him while dressed like a Best Buy worker who is heading to a Pearl Jam concert after his shift? The eyes of Westwood are upon you Jim.

UCLA is pretty good at avoiding Negative Drives and they are on the sunny side of Explosive Drives, but not by much. They are also OK at D-plus Plays. I guess.

UCLA wasn't very good before Rosen got hurt, but of course that didn't help. They are terrible at Drive Efficiency and not good at Play Efficiency. They also are not great on 3rd down. This team lacks push off the line and consistency in the passing game. This Utah defense isn't exceptionally good or anything, but it isn't like UCLA played all that well against Stanford and Stanford is pretty similar to Utah in it's strength up the middle.

Utah's defense (#34) is pretty good, but man have they have some good timing. They caught USC while the Trojan offense was adjusting under Darnold and they caught Arizona while Dawkins had some bruised ribs and JJ Taylor was already out for the season. Now they get UCLA who is pretty bad on offense.

Utah is pretty good at Drive Efficiency and not bad at Play Efficiency and Negative Drives. They make you work for it and their special teams, particularly at home, can put a lot of field between you and the end zone. Utah isn't going to overpower you. They play smart disciplined football and wait for you to make mistakes or occasionally force you into one.

Utah isn't great at preventing Explosive Drives and this is a danger spot for them against the Bruins. UCLA has plenty of speed on offense and can occasionally overcome their own ineptitude and put up a big play. Utah isn't too bad on 3rd down or creating D-plus Plays. They need to get to Rosen, who is vulnerable behind a fairly porous line.
