The Washington offense (#7) is rolling. It helps that Oregon's defense is probably in the bottom third of FCS teams and Stanford had to play without their top corners, but Washington dominated more than you would have expected and that is all you can ask. Sadly they miss Colorado and UCLA this year. The Huskies's offense matching up against those defenses would be worth staying up for the Larry Scott Memorial Time Slot on the East Coast. They Huskies certainly have't played anyone with a pulse yet.

Washington is tops in the country in Explosive Drives, they are excellent at Play Efficiency, and they are very good at Negative Drives. They are pretty good at Drive Efficiency. There is some question about their consistency with that Drive Efficiency number, but Washington was able to put together some consistent drives in the second half against Arizona; not that Arizona is any good on defense.

Washington isn't great on 3rd down or at D-plus Plays when you weight by Strength of Schedule, but that is more a result of playing a tissue soft slate of defenses so far.

Oregon State's defense (#54) really had their best game in upsetting Cal. They matched up well to Cal's strengths in that game. They are really not all that far off from being good in year two of the Gary Anderson regime. I can't say that Anderson turns it around for sure in Corvallis, but there are some good signs with a young team looking for consistency on this side of the ball. If there is a bright side here is that Washington relies on Explosive Drives and OSU is still good that stopping those.

Oregon State is very good at preventing Explosive Drives, and pretty good at Play Efficiency and Negative Drives. They are also pretty good at 3rd down. This looks like a good young defense that needs to put together some consistency to get their opponents of the field more regularly.

Oregon State's Drive Efficiency number is where you see the lack of consistency. They just can't seem to cause enough disruption in their opponents. Their D-plus Plays number is part of this.
