The Stanford offense (#95) had a pretty good game against Arizona last week and still dropped 5 spots nationally; which is to say, all the parts are moving people. In a lot of ways though, the offense just did things that it was already doing well better and didn't do many of the things that it was doing poorly better at all. Arizona got a lot of pressure on Chryst and he didn't have a great game back there even when he had time. Oregon State's defense is going to be a big step up for the Cardinal from Arizona, but they should still be able to move the ball, plus the Stanford D and special teams should give them a shorter field to work with.

Stanford is pretty good at Negative Drives. They don't put themselves in holes and they don't go 3 and out very often. They aren't bad at Play Efficiency so they do get a decent, but not great, push off the ball. They are also pretty good on 3rd down and at preventing D-plus plays.

Stanford is really bad at all the other stuff though; really bad. They are flat awful on Drive Efficiency and they are really bad at Explosive Drives. This team lacks the ability to protect the QB, they lack consistency, and they are not getting the ball to their playmakers in space.

Oregon State's defense (#52) had a pretty good game against Washington State, given how well Wazzu is playing on that side of the ball. This Stanford offense should present nothing like the challenge of the two Washington schools the Beavers have played the last two weeks. Oregon State is good enough on D to make this a tighter game than the model/line would perhaps expect.

Oregon State is pretty average at just about everything; which isn't a really bad thing. They are a little better at Play Efficiency, but not deep into the good range. They are actually very good on 3rd down, so that helps considerably.

OSU is really bad at D-plus Plays. They just don't get enough big plays out of the defense and that is something that could radically change games if they could make a few more big plays.
