The Arizona State offense (#59) isn't getting much of a break after getting Colorado last week and UCLA the week before. They had a horrid trip to Boulder all around, but the offense looked particularly bad against an excellent Colorado defense. There many QB injuries haven't helped, but the incredibly arrogant and stupid decision to leave a recently recovered Manny Wilkins in late in that Colorado game behind that O-line has to rank as one of the dumbest no-upside decisions of this year.

ASU is very good at Drive Efficiency, which is great, because their per play metrics are pretty bad. They have been able to string drives together better than you would expect. This is an interesting offense that manages to be consistent in a rather constrained box.

ASU is pretty terrible at Play Efficiency, Explosive Drives, and Negative Drives. They really don't get much push off the ball, they don't push the ball downfield, and they go 3 and out and get knocked back sometimes even when they don't. This offense really needs to find something to hang their hat on. Their remaining schedule has 3 good to great defenses and two really bad ones, so look for them to be all over the map.

Washington State's defense (#17) didn't have their best game against UCLA. They made UCLA pretty one dimensional, but the backup UCLA QB played reasonably well and that doesn't reflect well because UCLA even with Rosen isn't a good offense. ASU is slightly better than that UCLA offense, but also has some QB health questions. WSU lucks out here and gets another bad offense.

WSU is very very good at Drive Efficiency, they are very good at Negative Drives, and just plain good at Play Efficiency and Explosive Drives. This defense forces teams into 3 and outs and into inconsistent play. They are pretty decent on 3rd down.

WSU is only OK at D-plus Plays. The Cougars are going to be facing some good offenses coming up, but they should keep an eye on this game. Weird things happen down in the desert.
