The Arizona State offense (#62) should take a deep breath and try not to choke this grand opportunity to look like they know what competence looks like. They haven't played a defense this bad in awhile and I hope Sun Devil fans are relishing a chance to play this Oregon D.

ASU is very good at Drive Efficiency, which is great, because their per play metrics are pretty bad. They have been able to string drives together better than you would expect. This offense is clearly trying to string it together behind an offensive line that is learning and dealing with some QB injuries.

ASU is pretty terrible at Play Efficiency, Explosive Drives, and Negative Drives. They really don't get much push off the ball, they don't push the ball downfield, and they go 3 and out and get knocked back sometimes even when they don't. This offense really needs to find something to hang their hat on. This is a game where they can and should look pretty good even if they start a brand new QB.

Oregon's defense (#116) continues to be a traveling work of Brady Hoke performance art. Only Cal's defense and Arizona's special teams seem likely to challenge the Ducks for the title of worst unit in the Pac-12. Weirdly it was their offense that really let the team down last week. Sure the defense could have done something, but Oregon probably should have won the game if both units play up to their season par. ASU is also a bit of a respite for the Ducks D after getting Washington, WSU, and Cal all in a row.

Oregon is pretty good on 3rd down and they are not bad at Explosive Drives and that is about it.

Oregon is just awful at Drive Efficiency. They lack any kind of consistency and if they could find it, well they could be bad instead of terrible. They aren't so awful on Play Efficiency or Negative Drives and they are pretty bad at D-plus Plays.
