The Oregon State offense (#68) is having a bit of a weird year and their problems may not be purely solved by just gaining more experience; some of these issues may require recruiting solutions. They have got out and surprised some people though; looking at you Cal.

OSU is pretty good at Drive Efficiency and Play Efficiency. They are also good at 3rd down and on D-plus plays. This OSU team is actually pretty consistent on offense and Drive Efficiency is one of the two larger parts of Offensive Beta_Rank, but it isn't the only major component.

The Beavers really aren't very good at Explosive Drives or Negative Drives. They go 3 and out too often and they are not stretching the field enough. The Negative Drives issue can be fixed with some experience, but some of the Explosive Drives issue might have to be fixed with recruiting.

Washington State's defense (#23) has put up two sub par games in a row against anemic offenses and their ranking has suffered accordingly. It wasn't like ASU had a huge game or anything, but ASU is really bad at offense so even letting them look marginally competent doesn't look good.

WSU is v very good at Drive Efficiency, they are very very good at Negative Drives, and just plain good at Play Efficiency and Explosive Drives. This defense forces teams into 3 and outs and into inconsistent play. They are pretty decent on 3rd down.

WSU is only OK at D-plus Plays. They don't have any glaring weaknesses as a defense, but getting better pressure on the QB or forcing some more turnovers would go a long way to keeping a good season going.
