The Arizona State offense (#71) is having a bad rebuild on their offensive line. It just isn't gelling and it is killing them because unlike Arizona; they have some really talented skill position players. Arizona's defense should provide a second to last chance for ASU's offense to feel good about  themselves this season.

ASU is pretty good at Drive Efficiency. They do find ways to put up more points than you would expect given how many yards per play they are putting up.

ASU is just bad at Play Efficiency, Explosive Drives, and Negative Drives. Given how many athletes they have their Explosive Drives rating is pretty embarrassing. They go backward pretty often and they also go 3 and out frequently. They aren't that good on 3rd down or D-plus Plays.

Arizona's defense (#120) is nearing the end of their long inexorable, nearly unwatchable march to the bottom of the Pac-12 defensive rankings. After last week's performance they managed to pass both Oregon and Cal as the worst defense in in the conference. This game isn't going to be good. ASU isn't a good offensive team at all, but they are good enough to put up a bunch of points on a unit as bad as Arizona, see their early season game against Texas Tech.

Arizona is OK at Negative Drives. They are good at 3rd down when you control for SOS.

Arizona is really bad at Drive Efficiency, Play Efficiency, and Explosive Drives. They also don't generate D-plus Plays. Yates is connecting with the blitz sometimes, but not often enough, and it leaves the defense vulnerable. The chose a really weird game to play it straight; against WSU, because WSU has the pure talent to beat them badly straight up.
