Until Weeks 6-7 the model outputs are directional, but useful
The Stanford offense (#44) is having a hell of a year and it doesn't help that they were the best in the land last year. People tend to be very good at making recent comparisons. Within their hell of a year comes a very bad two weeks against the Washington schools. I will grant you that the Washington schools are very good so lets not hold that too much against them. Luckily slumping Stanford's offense gets a break this week and gets to play Notre Dame
Stanford is very good at Play Efficiency and avoiding Negative Drives. They are also very good on 3rd down and at preventing D-plus Plays given their Strength of Schedule; which is the most difficult any offense has faced. Stanford avoids going 3 and out and they are good at moving the pile, but...
Stanford isn't consistent at moving the pile. Their Drive Efficiency numbers and lack of Explosive Drives tell a story of a team that has a high per play variance. Stanford has been bad on the pass and it is starting to hurt their run game.

Notre Dame's defense (#59) isn't great or anything, and they haven't played a tough schedule to date, but playing a game in a hurricane really made them look mildly competent. They got a fully undeserved jump from #100 to #59 from Week 5 data to Week 6 data. They get another chance to look like they know what they are doing this week with a visit from one-dimensional Stanford.
Notre Dame is pretty good at wind-aided Drive Efficiency.

Notre Dame isn't very good at Play Efficiency, preventing Explosive Drives, causing Negative Drives, 3rd down, or causing D-plus Plays. This defense really really struggles. You can get pressure on Stanford and disrupt their mediocre pass game and put the whole game on Mr. Heisman. I am not sure Notre Dame can, but other defenses can.
