Until Weeks 6-7 the model outputs are directional, but useful

The Notre Dame offense (#70) also got a bit of a hurricane discount; they were #48 last week. Though this is more deserved because Brian Kelly is an stubborn child. Not only did Kelly decide to run a pass first, second, and third option in the middle of HURRICANE, he also threw his players and asst. coaches under the bus. Coaches he hired and players he and his coaches recruited and currently coach. Way to be a grown up coach. It really doesn't help that the Irish haven't played a very tough schedule either.

Notre Dame is ok at Play Efficiency.

Notre Dame isn't great at Drive Efficiency, Explosive Drives, and is bad at preventing Negative Drives. They are also not great at 3rd down or preventing D-plus Plays. Stanford's defense has gradually been slipping down the rankings as more data has come in, but they will still present a stiff challenge for this offense. Kizer is going to have to make some plays.

Stanford's defense (#49) has taken a tumble over the last two weeks after getting rolled by both Washington schools. Notre Dame isn't anywhere near the kind of talent that those schools have, but they have been able to put up points on really bad defenses. Stanford has moved from looking excellent to looking very average and this game provides the danger that they move on to bad. Stanford has played a very tough schedule up to this point so they have been tested more than the Irish, though it would be tough to say they passed.

Stanford is pretty good at Play Efficiency and preventing Explosive Drives. They are pretty good at creating D-plus Plays and on 3rd Down. This all looks like a good team, but they have replaced quite a few players and there corners have been hurt.

Stanford isn't good at Drive Efficiency and creating Negative Drives. They lack the consistency to get opponents off the field. Stanford's other fundamentals are pretty good so if they can find some consistency and find ways to force more 3 and outs they have a chance to be a very good defense.
