Until Weeks 6-7 the model outputs are directional, but useful

The UCLA offense (#75)  is having a fall to rival a certain groping Presidential candidate and that was before their star QB was injured last week. UCLA has been increasingly ineffective as the year has gone on. Sure they smacked around Arizona, but Arizona isn't very good at defense and UCLA had great field position in that game. The flunked it as ASU, against a so-so Sun Devil defense that likes to blitz, they didn't manage to protect their statuesque QB. Playing against Alex Grinch's tough defense is going to be a challenge UCLA hasn't faced since they played A&M.

Here is some good news UCLA, you don't go 3 and out very often or get yourself into deep trouble on the subsequent downs.

UCLA s terrible at Drive Efficiency. This offense doesn't stay in gear and it lacks even basic consistency. UCLA isn't good at Play Efficiency or Explosive Drives. They also are not great on 3rd down or at preventing D-plus Plays. UCLA lost a lot off last year's team, so they were going to suffer from some pains, but combining that with this new offense is not paying dividends this year, but it might next.

WSU's defense (#7) is looking good after back to back great performances against Oregon and Stanford. The model is still less sure about WSU than other teams, but in the next few weeks as everyone takes their byes, the information discrepancy will even out. I am less sure about them being as great as the model currently has them, but I am more sure that they will be pretty good when it all comes in.

WSU is great at Drive Efficiency. They force offenses into inconsistent play and get them off the field. They are also pretty great at creating Negative Drives and containing Explosive Drives. They are good at Play Effieciency, 3rd down, and at creating D-plus Plays. In fact WSU is having a banner year defensively under future Mountain West head coach of the year Alex Grinch

Wazzu's defense doesn't have weaknesses in the model. They silently prowl the vector projections hunting your weaknesses.
