The California offense (#12) is chugging along like Jared Goff was just some guy; which is pretty amazing actually. Davis Webb has stepped in and played really well. I thought they might be susceptible to an upset in Corvallis because of the offense's reliance on Explosive Drives and the defense being terrible, but since then, their overall profile has changed in the data and Cal looks significantly more consistent.

Cal is near excellent at Drive Efficiency and pretty good on Explosive Drives and preventing Negative Drives. It is the consistency number that really makes this offense go as Cal is going to be very hard to get off the field, even if they are just dunking short passes underneath your coverage. Cal is pretty average at Play Efficiency; not really bad enough to call out as a weakness.

Cal isn't great at preventing D-plus Plays or on 3rd down given their Strength of Schedule. Cal hasn't played the toughest slate of defenses and that isn't going ot change this week.

Oregon's defense (#116) is horrible. They have played a pretty stout schedule with Washington and WSU before their bye, but that is one of the only positives. Cal is going to be another challenge so hopefully they also took the bye week to improve.

Oregon is actually not bad at Play Efficiency, but you only see that when you look at the radar chard which is a distance measure rather than the ranking, which is a cardinal ordering. Oregon is pretty good on 3rd down and at creating D-plus Plays given its Strength of Schedule, but they haven't been able to translate that into better performance.

Oregon is almost the worst in the country at Drive Efficiency. They are totally inconsistent and let the offense escape from any holes they might put them in. You can definitely drive the field on this team, which is likely to happen since their offense is so good and you might be starting from you own 25. They are also pretty bad at preventing Explosive Drives and creating Negative Drives.
