The Oregon offense (#9) is surviving the quixotic decision to start playing Justin Herbert. On one hand, people really blamed Dakota Prukop for the defense in a way that makes you wonder if football exists outside of emotion, but on the other; you might as well play the young kid if you realize this year is toast and you need to rebuild. The offense really cost them the Cal game last week, as Oregon should have been able to pour it on a bad defense like Cals. Oregon has played some tough defenses already so ASU's middle of the pack crew won't be a surprise, but they will need Herbert to stay calm and upright vs. the ASU blitz; they do that and they should put up loads of points.

Oregon is excellent at Explosive Drives. They are also very good at Drive Efficiency, Play Efficiency, Negative Drives, 3rd down, and D-plus Plays. This offense definitely has it rolling and should look great against the back end of their schedule which eases up without the two Washington schools and their defenses looming.

Arizona State's defense (#53) had a bummer of a game for the Sun Devils. WSU's defense had a bad game and if the Devils had been able to hold on, they would have had quite the upset, but Luke Falk engineered quite the comeback. ASU isn't having the best defensive season by Graham's standards and it isn't going to be easy this week.

ASU is excellent at Negative Drives and on 3rd down and is very good at D-plus Plays. These are all things you would expect from a Todd Graham blitz heavy scheme. They get after you and try to land big punches that put you into deep holes.

But that strategy only works if you connect pretty often and this defense isn't doing enough of that. They are pretty bad at Drive Efficiency, Play Efficiency, and Explosive Drives. They can give up big plays and long drives. This is going to be a tough matchup for the Devils, they are going to have to hope to rattle Herbert.
