The Washington offense (#5) won a game against Oregon State in a dominant, but not malicious fashion. They seemed to be ok with just blowing by the Beavers without making some sort of existential point like they did against Oregon and Stanford. The Beavers are getting better and Gary Anderson can coach, but Washington is a few years ahead in the process and may stay ahead permanently if Peterson keeps going at this pace. Utah's defense is quite a bit better than most of the teams Washington has played, but Washington also handled Stanford easily and their defense is a lot better than Utah's.

Washington is excellent at the per play metrics. The are best in the land on Explosive Drives, and almost as good at Play Efficiency and Negative Drives. Washington's offense does a lot of things really well, but especially they put up big plays and points on the board. They don't go 3 and out very often either.

It is small potatoes so far, but Washington's offense has been a bit inconsistent. They rely so heavily on Explosive Drives that they haven't put together a big set of data of regular old methodical drives. This could be problematic later in the season when Washington might run into some much better defenses, but Utah shouldn't be enough of a challenge to slow them down.

Utah's defense (#46) didn't have their best game against UCLA. I don't think that Utah is amazing or anything, but UCLA has been really bad on offense all year and giving up 45 points and still having 5 takeaways is pretty embarrassing when playing the Bruins. Adding insult to injury; the Bruins weren't even playing with Josh Rosen. Utah is going to have a serious challenge in front of them for this game. The last time they played a team with a top 20 offense, they lost to the Cal Bears.

Utah is pretty good at Negative Drives and Drive Efficiency. The get teams into 3 and outs and find ways to force them off the field. They also put pressure on the QB, as UCLA found out last week, and that can lead to turnovers. Utah is a consistent outlier on turnovers.

Utah isn't very good at Play Efficiency, Explosive Drives, 3rd down, or D-plus Plays. Utah can give up big plays and also a decent yards per play clip. They can really struggle if the other team has explosive players like Cal and UCLA. This could be a problem of this defense in this game.
