The UCLA offense (#56) gave up on trying to fill the gaping hole in Jim Mora's ego with the toughest offense in the land and decided to go with a truly crazy notion; things that work. UCLA aired it out against Utah and had a much better result than usual. UCLA fans can only hope that Mora has given up on trying to win every staring contest and that the Bruins clean up their turnover issues from the Utah game. If the Bruins hadn't gifted the Utes 5 turnovers they probably would have won the game, even though the Bruins defense had a truly bad game by their standards.

UCLA is pretty good at avoiding Negative Drives and they are on the sunnyside of average at Explosive Drives. This offense isn't doing a lot of things really well, but at least they are not going 3 and out or backwards all the time.

UCLA is really terrible at Drive Efficiency. They are an incredibly inconsistent and unable to get drives completed for points. They are really not great at Play Efficiency, 3rd down, or D-plus Plays either. This offense could turn it around if they keep throwing the ball around over the back half of the season, though they probably still end up with a new offensive coaching staff next year.

Colorado's defense (#3) is having the kind of year that gets assistants promotions and if the offense is going too, head coaches caught up in rumors about bigger jobs. They had a good game against Stanford two weeks ago, not that Stanford's offense in any kind of effective, but it saved them from a loss as Stanford's defense bottled up the Buffaloes offense pretty well. UCLA's defense is good enough to to bottle up the offense again.

Colorado is excellent at Drive Efficiency and Play Efficiency and they are close to excellent at Explosive Drives and Negative Drives. They are also pretty good at 3rd down. This defense does so many things really well

Colorado is only OK at D-plus Plays when you control for SOS. This game could be more of a challenge for the Buffs than anyone expects. UCLA is a classic underachiever vs its talent level and if they are opening up the offense they could pressure the Buffs defense.
