The Colorado offense (#31) has been tailing off a bit as the season has gone on and we have accumulated more data. They ran over ASU, but then had to play two of the toughest defenses in the Pac-12 and they did OK, but they nearly blew the game against UCLA with turnovers and had to get bailed out by the defense and special teams, which doesn't happen very often for the Buffs. Arizona will be a nice break from all that though.

Colorado is very very good at Drive Efficiency. This offense does get it done with consistency more than some other offenses. They are pretty good at Play Efficiency and not bad at Negative Drives. Colorado is at its best when they are picking up regular yards and getting first downs. They don't go 3 and out very often or backwards either. Some of that sounds like football platitude, but I mean that Colorado isn't flashy, but they are consistent. It helps that they are good on 3rd down and also good at D-plus Plays.

Colorado is extremely average at Explosive Drives. It is a major problem holding this offense back and with as good as the defense is this year, they need to figure out ways to be more explosive and soon.

Arizona's defense (#103) is competing with Cal and Oregon to decide who will be the worst defense in the conference this year. Arizona closes with OSU and ASU so the key for them to not be the worst for the second year in a row is to not make those two pedestrian offenses look uber competent, but the truth is, this defense is bad. There are some signs of progress, that WSU loss is A LOT more on the offense, which is weird thing to say when you give up 69 points.

Arizona's defense is pretty average at Negative Drives and that is something to celebrate. They are better at forcing 3 and outs, partly because their 3rd down rate is pretty good when you control for SOS.

Arizona is really awful at Drive Efficiency. They just are not consistent yet. They are also very bad at Play Efficiency, Explosive Drives, and D-plus Plays. They are not getting home against the QB often enough and they are starting to give up too many big plays as a result. Last week they tried to play plain vanilla and also got killed. Yates needs to find the right mix of blitzing and he hasn't hit it yet.
