The UCLA offense (#66) looked in the mirror a few weeks ago and realized that maybe Jim Mora's tough guy fantasies really were the problem and they have been different since. I am not saying they are good or anything, they are not, but they look like a developing offense that has a consistency and turnover problem instead of an unfortunate mustache with a consistency and turnover problem. They still blow games for their defense, but they look dangerous doing it sometimes.

UCLA is OK at Explosive Drives and Negative Drives. They are also OK at 3rd down and D-plus Plays. This offense does avoid 3 and outs at an OK clip and they do put up some big plays.

UCLA is pretty bad at Play Efficiency and they are terrible at Drive Efficiency. This offense isn't getting many yards off the line of scrimmage per play and they are stalling a lot of drives even with that. If they want to win this game they really have to put points up when their defense holds and gives them short fields to work with

USC's defense (#11) should be getting way more of the love being thrown Sam Darnold's way. Sure he had a good game in Seattle, but the defense had a great game shutting down the Husky offense. Washington obliged by not committing to running the ball and sticking to it's big play formula, but USC still held the most explosive offense in the country in serious check. UCLA is going to be far less of a test, but the Trojans have to be on the look out for a let down. UCLA's defense is plenty good enough to make this a slugfest where one mistake can cost you the game.

USC is excellent at Explosive Drives. They really have the athletes on the edges to prevent you from putting up big plays. They are also very very good at Negative Drives and Play Efficiency. The Trojans are good at forcing 3 and outs and they are tough to put up yards on. They are pretty good at Drive Efficiency, but they do give up some points to teams that have been able to run between the tackles on them. They are very good on 3rd down.

USC isn't great at D-plus Plays when you control for their SOS, the pass rush isn't quite there yet and when it comes together they will generate more turnovers.
