The Washington offense (#8) played pretty well against a bad ASU defense last week, getting back on track after their lost weekend against the Trojans. ASU certainly doesn't have the top end talent in the secondary to slow down the Huskies most days and they didn't really connect on their blitzes, which we expected. The game really could have been worse if the Huskies had poured it on more, but just embarrassing the Sun Devils seemed good enough for Peterson. WSU isn't going to go blitz heavy like the Devils, but they don't have the kind of athletes on the edges to totally shut down the Huskies big play threats.

Washington is still tops in the NCAA at Explosive Drives. They really push the ball down the field well to their exceptional receivers. They are also great at Play Efficiency and Negative Drives. They get a good push off the ball and they don't go 3 and out or take negative plays. They are less good at Drive Efficiency. They need to work on being, more consistent and putting together long drives. A lot of this is play calling and Browning's decisions, but they are going to run into another defense with great athletes if they make it to the playoff.

The Huskies are not great at 3rd down or D-plus Plays when you control for their SOS.

WSU's defense (#19) is still pretty good. They had a bad game at Colorado, but they were not helped out much by their offense which left a lot of points on the table and didn't always give the defense good field position to work with.

Washington State is excellent at Drive Efficiency, good at Negative Drives, and fine at Explosive Drives. The Cougs excel at finding ways to get off the field, even when they give up some yards. Their offense is so good that they usually have plenty of field behind them to work with. They are good on 3rd down and at D-plus Plays.

Wazzu is really average at Play Efficiency. They do give up some yards. It hasn't come back to haunt them since the early season, but they need to avoid giving Washington chances to get into the red zone.
